Americas Best Value Inn Lafayette

We had two rooms at the end of June 2022, one for my wife and kids and another down the hall for my in-laws. Both were in the same awful condition. The floors were wet and even the bed sheets felt damp. We skipped showering because we thought we'd come out dirtier than we went in. When I raised it with the front desk employee, he seemed not to care. Super 8 should be embarrassed to have its name on this hotel. I'd give it zero stars if I could. It doesn't deserve one, let alone its current 3.4 rating.

The bed was cozy and clean, but there are serious safety concerns here. My room had only lukewarm water, not hot water, which I worried could pose a Legionnaires' disease risk. The fire alarm had been pulled out of the ceiling, and the ground floor window could be pushed open with a firm tug. For a $50 bed I wasn't expecting pillow mints, and I'm not fussy about lodging, but these felt like major code violations.

The front desk staff were friendly, but the room was poorly maintained, with lifting floor tiles and peeling paint on the walls. We didn't feel safe there and left soon after arriving.

The staff were superb, and the coffee stayed hot. My husband and I had two very nice, quiet nights here with our two dogs. For this location, the privacy is amazing, and there's parking for big rigs too. If I'm in the area again, I look forward to coming back.
