Disney's Wilderness Lodge

The staff were helpful, and getting buses to all the parks was easy. Our room was nice, housekeeping did a great job, and the views were beautiful. There’s a big pool and hot tub, plus great restaurants. It’s a little pricey, but worth it.

The balcony view was nice, though the room itself was small. I stayed five nights and would come back. The boat and bus are easy to get to. One odd thing: the water smells like sulphur to me when I first turn on the shower. My roommates couldn’t smell it, but it seemed off to me.

The fresh vegetables at the quick service spots are a real highlight, even though food isn’t what this resort is known for. I’ve stayed here twice and have also come specifically for the restaurants. My wife and I liked the spacious room, plentiful amenities and desirable location. The main lodge is fun, though Whispering Canyon’s antics can make it pretty noisy. With the pool and scenic views, it’s hard to go wrong.

The quick service food feels like cafeteria fare, and there’s little effort to make it fit the hotel’s deluxe status. The prices are hard to swallow too. Early December rates were over $600 a night, more than I’ve paid for a beachfront stay in Hawaii, and you’d think they could at least include a sit-down breakfast. Still, we love this hotel, especially at Christmas, and Animal Kingdom is another favorite. The grounds are carefully landscaped, the inside feels like a Christmas wonderland, and there are lots of lovely little places to relax. The pools are well kept, with fun activities for guests. It’s a gorgeous property.
