SpringHill Suites by Marriott Orlando Lake Buena Vista in the Marriott Village

The beds were comfortable and the room was generally good, so the stay was okay. At breakfast, we enjoyed making Mickey-shaped pancakes, a cute touch for families. The rest of the breakfast felt basic, with almost no fresh fruit or healthy choices, and the coffee was definitely burnt. The AC unit was right beside the bed and noisy enough to make it harder to sleep. A few improvements would make a noticeable difference.

There are plenty of restaurants nearby and an outlet mall within easy reach, and the room itself was clean and spacious, though dated. The location does mean a bit of a drive to Disney and Universal. Service needs work. The sink and toilet clogged easily, housekeeping was inconsistent, they left our clothes on the floor on the first day, and a whole bottle of body wash was missing from the bathroom the next. Decent room and surroundings, but those service issues took away from it.

The front desk staff were pleasant, but this place used to be much better. I paid for the laundry dryers three times in a row, 50 minutes each time, and tried three machines. My clothes were still wet. The washers are old and don’t clean well either. Breakfast was frustrating too, with incredibly long waits for the waffle makers; they should add four or five more. Housekeeping didn’t check whether I was out of shampoo or conditioner.

The pools were good and the place was clean, with nice staff, but one of the three pools was closed and nobody told us. The buildings around them also need repainting. This property feels run down and badly in need of renovation. As Marriott Lifetime Platinum members, we’ve stayed in all kinds of hotels, and this one doesn’t meet Marriott standards. I don’t know why quality control allows it to remain in this condition. The lobby and rooms have very worn chairs, couches, and decor that should be replaced. Hallway and room paint is poorly patched rather than repainting the whole wall, and it feels like little has been improved since the 1990s. Even arriving, we saw faded, damaged luggage carts and peeling lobby chairs. I was embarrassed to have suggested it to my family. Aloft, a few minutes away and the same price, was a million times better when I stayed there a month earlier.
