Comfort Suites Lake Charles

We asked for an accessible room when booking and again when we arrived. We got one at first, but the smoke smell was horrible. They moved us to a room that wasn’t accessible, which was a major inconvenience because of my mother’s condition, and that room had bugs too. Comfort Suites should give us a full refund for the smoke odor, not providing the accessible room we requested, and the roaches and other bugs.

The Wi-Fi worked well enough, and the A/C was good with no odor. Breakfast was about average for a budget hotel, though the white gravy was tasty, with sausage bits throughout. The beds were clean, as were most visible surfaces, but there was a piece of a dead beetle, not a roach, on the tile, debris between the bed and nightstand, no bath mat, and an empty shampoo tube. The shower corners were dirty too. I mentioned it to the front desk person in the morning. He said he’d send housekeeping for a thorough service. By the time I returned, most of it had been taken care of. They never refilled the shampoo.

I was there on orders, and when I handed in the tax exemption forms, the front desk met me with attitude. Our rooms were booked until the fifth because the orders could change, and we didn’t want to keep extending them. When I checked out early, they charged an “early check out” fee I’d never heard of. The staff were rude and seemed to have a bad attitude about everything. The mattresses had stains that looked like pee and blood, and the pillows were stained too. Both rooms smelled like ashtrays despite the “no smoking” signs. There was a plastic bag over the smoke alarms. When I mentioned it, the person at the desk acted surprised. The whole hotel smelled musty as soon as you walked in, and I doubt the rooms get cleaned because the odor hits you right away. I honestly don’t know how this place is still open. Management needs to do better.

I was visiting a friend who was working in lake Charles. The place was very clean and had a quiet atmosphere, with a gym, breakfast, and a lounge. Very nice.
