The breakfast was fresh and tasty, served in a cozy little dining area downstairs. We also had reliable Wi-Fi and found the location handy for getting to lots of places. Our room felt private and comfortable, with a very unusual bathroom and a sweet view across the road toward the lake. The antique character gives Cabin on the Lake a lot of charm and potential, and the host was genuinely accommodating.

The lake view from the Captain Room was lovely, and the decor made it feel cozy and homey. Breakfast was simple but nice, a muffin and orange juice. The owner was amazing and made sure we had everything we needed. I'd happily come back, wish I could give this place 10 stars.

The location is great, but we didn't have a good stay. Getting there felt confusing and not especially welcoming. We let that slide because we were looking forward to our little getaway and tried to stay positive. The uncomfortable part happened on checkout day. The stated checkout time was 11:00 a.m., but at about 9:00 the owner tried to open our room, then called several times asking for the key while we were still inside. We were still within the checkout window, so it left us uneasy and concerned. There was no apology or explanation afterward.

The place has a kind of magic to it, but I wouldn't recommend it, especially to young women. I had repeated intrusive conversations and unsolicited advice about personal matters during my stay, and it was hard to get away from them. Guests should feel at ease and have their boundaries respected. I didn't feel that happened here.

The early morning mist over the pond and its green water lilies made coffee outside feel lovely. Hugo was wonderful and took care of what we needed, plus pointed us toward beautiful trails, springs, and things to do in town. We'll be back.
