Red Roof Inn Parsippany

After landing from a flight, I reached the motel around 2am and checked in. Both beds in the first room were covered in hair, and the bathroom was disgusting. I asked for another room. That bed still had hair, though less, so exhausted, I slept on a sweatshirt. The tub in the new room was nasty too. The room phone didn’t work, and the smoke detector was just an empty hole in the wall. Later I found two detectors in a drawer with their batteries pulled out. If it hadn’t been so late, I would have left. In the morning, while sitting in my truck waiting for it to warm up, I watched housekeeping go into my room. They were there for three minutes total, changed the pillowcases, and made the bed, but DID NOT CHANGE SHEETS. Please avoid this place unless you want to sleep in my filth and probably loads of people before me.

The bathrooms were disgusting, with black mold, and the blankets, pillows, and sheets were stained. One room looked like it had fresh sex fluids on the sheets. The rooms weren’t cleaned, heating was inefficient, the place wasn’t updated, and the old bubble walls were still there. The refrigerator barely cooled anything. We changed rooms three times, and the first two weren’t what we’d paid for. We’d booked in advance, but twice they refused to give us the room we paid for. I came out of town for this crap. I’ll never stay here again. Don’t waste your money.

The rooms are small, but they aren’t penthouse or extended-stay suites, and the price is right. It’s clean, nobody bothers you, and your pet can stay free. The AC and heat both work well. I’ve stayed here a few times and never had an issue that wasn’t taken care of after I let them know. The workers are kind, Alex at the front desk is super sweet, and owner Jay is really nice and helpful too.

The room smelled bad, the floors were dirty, there was trash under the bed, and I saw signs of mold in the bathroom. The showerhead was filthy and red stains on the shower curtain were unsettling. The phone was disconnected, and I had to hold the cord just to get it working. The mini fridge and microwave were so disgusting that I left my drinks in my bag. The outside looked unkempt too. This was a spontaneous stay because the hotel had the best price at the time, but problems started when I tried to call for details. The listed number was out of service, so I wasn’t sure they were open. I booked anyway, then found a different number on a note on the office door, even though it wasn’t on any of the websites I checked. The environment felt unsafe and unhealthy, and I was extremely hesitant to stay. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, especially if you have kids.
