Hudson Valley 9w Motel

Clean rooms and beds matter a lot to us, and the 9W hotel is very accommodating on that front. We’ve stayed there twice and love how much the owners care about their customers. They’re friendly and courteous, and the hotel is extremely clean and bug free. We enjoy staying there and will return. We recommend the 9W hotel to anyone looking for very clean rooms and beds. The one good thing was that everything was clean, but this place wasn’t worth the money. The rooms are small and you can hear everything, plus there’s heavy traffic and a train passing and blowing its horn all day and night. My TV shut itself off at some point while I was sleeping, even though I’d left it on. The cable was cheap. The place also isn’t accessible for people with disabilities: no ramps or bars, and the beds are ridiculously high.

The room was clean, and everything worked without any technical problems. The staff were friendly and helpful too. It was a nice motel, and I’ll definitely stay here again when we’re back in town.

The room looked fine at first, but the TV was hard to watch. Its universal remote couldn’t turn off the captions, and the picture was stuck in an energy saver mode or something like that. It looked distorted and only filled the center, leaving at least 6 inches of blank screen on each side. My wife and I had gone shopping and out to dinner that evening. We wanted to stay another night to see more local sights, so at 10:30 I told the manager I was going to the ATM for cash to pay. I stopped for coffee on the way back. Then my wife called to say the manager was knocking 10 minutes before checkout and told her she had to empty our belongings from the room and wait outside if I didn’t return within 10 minutes. I understand the manager was within her legal rights by checkout time, but the way she handled it really bothered me. I got back at exactly 11 a.m. and saw my wife carrying our suitcases and other things to the sidewalk while the manager watched from the doorway. While packing, my wife found a cockroach. The manager’s rudeness and lack of compassion were the main reasons we won’t return, though finding the bug made the choice feel like a blessing in disguise. We booked here because other local hotels were full and we had no other options, and we regret giving it a try. The other guests seemed friendly, but the manager/owner wasn’t nice. If you have a choice, avoid this motel and its angry prison guard-esq manager.
