The Lodge on Lake Lure

Our trip to Lake Lure NC was unplanned. This is where Dirty Dancing was filmed many years ago, and the area was among those devastated by hurricane Helene. The historic hotel is nice, with lots of history to read about and stories of famous people who have stayed there. Our room was simple and clean, and the staff went above and beyond to help. They even offered us a very famous room for the same price. The town is still in VERY bad shape, and it’ll be years before it recovers. You can see what people here have suffered and continue to endure. The roads are rough in places, and traffic includes construction vehicles, dump trucks, and cars. There are a few nice restaurants, and they’re doing a very good job. Some shops in Chimney Rock NC have reopened, so go support them, they really need your help. Come see the beautiful mountains of NC and support the area. Make sure your gas tank or EV is full before you go in. There are no gas stations nearby, and the closest fuel is 20 miles east. Again, this area is like a bomb went off. This is horrible!! We must support!!!!!

We watched the sunrise and sunset from our little balcony, and every part of the property is beautiful. The staff were so kind and attentive. We loved exploring the whole place and didn’t want to leave. We’ll be coming back.

The on-site restaurant served an amazing dinner, and the property manager was responsive and accommodating. The lake was closed and rebuilding work was still underway, but we had a wonderful stay at this lovely lodge on Lake Lure. We’ll certainly return!

The views were breathtaking, the food was amazing, and the service was incredible. It felt very upscale, and after traveling a lot over the last three years, this was the best experience ever. It’s number one on our list now. Thank you for such an incredible stay. We really don’t want to leave. 😍🎉
