Cambria Hotel Lake Placid - Lakeside Resort

The hotel is clean and has friendly staff. This was our second visit, and both times a youth hockey team was staying there too. The boys were extremely rowdy, which made it unpleasant, even for someone like me who has kids. Their parents showed no regard for their behavior. To be clear, the hotel staff did their absolute best. They had security and were trying hard to calm the kids down.

We stayed for a couple of days and had a really good experience. The room was spacious, the hotel was very nice, and breakfast at the restaurant was good. The manager, I think her name is Christa, was excellent. She was caring, gave great customer service, and did everything she could to accommodate us. If I come back to the area, I’d definitely stay here again. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

We chose this place partly because it has level 2 chargers on site, and they were really convenient for overnight charging. We arrived fairly early and got one easily, though once the lot filled up, cars that weren’t charging blocked the spots, so it could be harder to get one later at night. Our two-bedroom suite was spacious, clean, and comfortable, and we enjoyed the indoor pool. It was busy with lots of families over the long weekend. Housekeeping only came when requested, and even then the service was minimal: they emptied the trash and left clean towels. We had a nice long weekend in Lake Placid.

We thought we’d found a great deal in the corner unit, which was like an apartment, but then my husband spotted what looked like ladybugs, Asian Lady Beetles, where the living room wall met the ceiling. They were everywhere: in the bedroom, kitchen, and hallway entry. Housekeeping came up and tried vacuuming them off the ceiling, but couldn’t keep up. I wish I’d taken pictures of the clusters before they started. My husband had to help reach the valance where the beetles were coming from and living behind. It was an infestation, dozens and dozens of them. I also found a fly on the coffee machine. It was Columbus weekend, there was no manager on site, and the young staff said they had no rooms left. They said they’d called the manager, Kristin, but she never called us to apologize or offer a solution. The only offer was to sleep there that night and switch rooms the next night. I was shocked they didn’t keep an extra room or two for emergencies. There were no vacancies within 150 miles, leaving us with no choice at 8 pm but to drive five hours home. We got a refund for a stay we never used, which doesn’t mean much. No accommodation and no call from management. Avoid room 209, or the place altogether.
