Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort

I usually bring my own pillow when I travel, but the bed here was so comfortable I didn’t need it. Our double queen room was a little snug, though spotless and equipped with everything we needed. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast at the attached Generations was delicious. The resort sits right downtown, close enough to walk to the shops and restaurants. I loved the lake view from the foyer’s floor-to-ceiling windows, and there’s a great pool, sauna, hot tubs, and fitness center too. Such a beautiful place to stay.

The hotel itself is beautiful, but the way my complaints were handled was disappointing. Around ten young girls crowded into the kiddie pool and left no space for my 3-year-old grandson. Then they moved into the hot tub and pushed my wife and me out. When I told the front desk, the clerk just said the pool would be closing in an hour anyway. The next night it was full of kids and very loud, which I can understand to a point. But when I brought it up again at checkout, I didn’t even get an apology. I still left a tip for housekeeping.

The quiet lobby was a lovely spot to read by the huge window overlooking the lake, and there were usually friendly guests around to chat with. The location and scenery are beautiful, and the hotel was clean. We also enjoyed the food at the restaurant, and the little mall inside has gifts, forgotten essentials, and a small brewery with different flavored beers to try. Service was the one area that could improve. I found a cart myself, loaded it, then pushed it a long way from the parking lot to our room with a heavy load. Nobody showed me where the carts were or offered help. Maybe that was just my experience, since some staff were nice, and I don't want to leave an unfairly negative impression. Still, bring a strong young man to carry your bags. 💼😆 I’d recommend the hotel.

Kim at the front desk really made our birthday getaway feel special. She called Jimmy’s 21 restaurant for us, brought out warm homemade cookies in the lobby, and was so caring and professional. Housekeeping also did an outstanding job. We spent two midweek nights here and love this resort so much that we’d pick it whenever we visit Lake Placid. Our room was spotless, with gorgeous views of mirror lake, and the restaurant and bar had great food and service. There are lots of places to stay in this beautiful town, but this one stands out for us. We’re already looking forward to coming back soon.
