The Boha Hotel

We spent two nights here on a Lake Placid ski trip and would gladly return. The rooms were clean, cozy, and quiet, and the parking and room access were convenient. The location worked well too, within walking distance of the main drag but not right in the middle of it. Everything was fantastic.

The room was lovely and very clean, with wood details that felt both rustic and fresh. A large smart TV was a big plus for unwinding after busy days. My girlfriend and I stayed on December 9th and 10th. The snow was lovely, and the roads were well plowed, so getting around was easy. Main Street and nearby activities were an easy distance away. Staff checked in often by text and shared useful information before we arrived. When the door wouldn't lock easily, a staff member from next door came right over to help. It was restful and easy, reasonably priced, and I'd highly recommend staying here.

We booked three nights at Boha Hotel in Lake Placid for our family of four during Christmas week, but left after one terrible night. We were charged for all three nights and, three weeks later, still hadn't received the refund promised for the remaining two. The stay was unacceptable because we didn't sleep at all that first night. Check-in was rough from the start: the room code was wrong, and with no front desk, we had to wait in the car for help by text. Once inside, the room was small but nicely updated. There was no room to hang or dry winter gear or skis. The bathroom had only two towels for four people. We asked by text for more towels, pillows, and a chair; extra towels were made available, but no pillows or chair. We could clearly hear conversations from the next room through the poor sound insulation. The main problem was the exterior-facing, motel-style door, which wasn't properly sealed. Wind and cold air came in, and snow literally blew into the room all night (see photos). We were in a second-floor end unit near the stairs, so we could hear and feel everyone walking by. Smoke from guests smoking on the walkway came into the room too. Between that, the cold, and the noise, we didn't sleep. The next morning, staff sent what I believe was a generic message hoping our first night had been comfortable and restful, with a smooth check-in, and asking if they could help. I explained what happened and asked for a room change or a refund. Justin, who was polite and responsive, said no other rooms were available. We were offered a refund for the last two nights if we checked out by 11 a.m. Traveling with two children during a peak holiday week, we had to find somewhere else in a hurry and leave early. Thank you, Best Western! Since then, despite being told by phone and text that the refund would be issued, nothing has come through. I followed up with Boha staff and shared credit statements showing no refund. They now say they issued it and have left me to sort it out with my bank or card company. From arrival through checkout, this was a terrible experience, made worse by the lack of follow-through afterward and being charged for three nights after staying one. I would never stay here again or recommend it, especially to families, winter travelers, or anyone expecting a quiet, well-sealed room and reliable customer service.

A crisp, clean, comfortable room was a lovely welcome to a snowy Lake Placid. We'd noticed The Boha on earlier trips, and when I looked at the website, it seemed to have exactly what we wanted. Our four-night stay went smoothly. I also liked the little library, a unique touch. It's just outside the main strip, a short walk down the hill. We'll definitely be back. Thanks, White Rainbow!!
