Crowne Plaza Lake Placid

We got a surprise room upgrade, and the view from the room was beautiful. We enjoyed our whole family getaway. The hotel is conveniently placed within walking distance of the shops and main street. The pool and hot tub were nice, and the pool area was clean and well cared for. Our room and the rest of the hotel were clean too. Food isn’t included in the rate, but the hotel restaurant offers a grand dining experience with a breathtaking view. They also had complimentary morning coffee each day, and the staff were nice. Grab a coffee and sit outside by the fire pit to enjoy the scenery.

I really liked sitting by the fireplace in the beautifully decorated lobby, with the Christmas lights still up, reading or getting some work done. We picked the hotel because it was close to town and the hockey rink where our friend’s child was playing. It was our first visit to Lake Placid, and the location was great. The room was harder to enjoy. We were on the first floor, and the room above us kept slamming its sliding door at all hours. Our own sliding glass door let in a terrible draft, so the room was hard to keep warm, and the shower dripped all night loudly enough to hear. The rooms need updating, and I’m not sure I’d stay here again.

We arrived unexpectedly after our home was damaged, and everyone was helpful. The room was great, and we enjoyed several dinners at the restaurant. The food was delicious, and they accommodated our dietary restrictions. It was easy to get around from this convenient location, and we had a good stay.

The bathroom mold was the problem we couldn’t get past. We looked at three rooms, and visible mold was present in every bathroom. The last room had less of it, but it was still there. Staff understood our concern and offered complimentary breakfast, though the ventilation and mold issues themselves weren’t resolved. If we hadn’t been traveling with family, we would have stayed elsewhere. Until the bathrooms are properly ventilated and the mold is addressed, I wouldn’t come back. There were good parts: the great room, dining spaces, pool, and food were all wonderful. Staff were consistently kind, welcoming, and attentive, and the Lake Placid location is excellent for restaurants and activities throughout the year.
