Town And Country Motor Inn

The woman at the front desk has been helpful, kind, and accommodating each time I've coordinated with her. I've stayed here quite a few times and really enjoyed it. The quiet, nice rooms are in an ideal spot, far enough from downtown noise but still an easy walk to the movie theater, restaurants, and shops. There's also a really nice peninsula trail hike just down the road. Town & Country has been my go-to in lake placid, and it'll stay that way.

The owners work onsite and were extremely accommodating, and the pool was really clean and nice. The room was dated but homey, and most of all, very, very clean. The price was reasonable, especially since we could easily have spent twice as much. We were happy we tried the Town and Country this weekend after the motel we used to stay at on the other side of the village closed. We'd tried a few other places, but the value wasn't there. This side of town is closer to the lake and less busy, which mattered during Covid. The weather was great for hiking, and most people in town and on the trails wore masks and kept their distance. We'll definitely be back!

One bed clearly hadn't been changed since the last guest, and there was food all over the bedspread. The room was dirty, and the bathroom light and fan both stopped working. The office had already closed early, so nobody could fix them and we had to use our phone flashlights for light. Even without those problems, the room wasn't worth what we paid.

The cottage was cozy and cute, and the fireplace made it feel unexpectedly romantic. We unfolded the living room futon and slept there to stay closer to the fire, though the upstairs loft was plenty warm. That loft has two double beds; downstairs there's a small living room and kitchenette together, plus a bathroom with a fine shower. Outside, there's a bench at the front and a little table and chairs on the grassy side. My boyfriend and I stayed one night, and we'd consider coming back, either just us or with friends.
