I chose Marriott for a work trip last week because I trust their beds. They’re comfortable and not stiff, and the room was comfortable overall. The AC and heat were easy to control, and the bathrooms were nice. My only complaint was that the shampoo and conditioner in the shower were empty, but I had brought my own. The rate was excellent. There’s no full-service restaurant, and the bar is very small. For food, your best bet is Red Lobster or the Smokey Bones behind the hotel.
The hotel has a clean pool and hot tub, and they were kid friendly for my nieces. The rooms were comfortable with wonderful TVs, and the front desk was clean and friendly. The shuttle goes to a train station with a terrific taqueria and a great happy hour. I’d also like to mention Sal, who was so helpful when I arrived and explained where everything was, even though I feel like I bothered him a bunch. Juliana and Dutch helped too. When I locked myself out, I got immediate service. The cafe/lounge staff did whatever they could to make things pleasant, and service staff were amazing. For people with disabilities, there are three different entrance and exit areas.
After a long day, all I wanted was a shower before bed. The water stayed lukewarm for a couple of minutes even with the shower turned fully hot, then suddenly became scalding. I couldn’t adjust it after that, even after leaving it at what should have been the coolest setting for 15 minutes. I ended up plugging the tub and scooping cold water from the sink until it was comfortable enough to wash the rest of myself. The next day there were still problems, though I made sure not to turn it all the way hot. Housekeeping also ignored the sign on my door, knocked, and then talked in the hallway for the rest of my stay. And the lobby microwave won’t run past 1:30. Replacing one costs $200. Sheesh. I’ll avoid this hotel in the future.
I stayed here in January 2026 and saw bed bugs in the bed I was using. The following day, a licensed exterminator confirmed they were in the original room. I had to move twice, so I ended up in three rooms during the stay. My belongings were treated as contaminated and had to be removed for cleaning or treatment. I was left without usable clothes or work essentials during a trip mainly for professional obligations. I missed a work function and had to make unplanned trips for basic necessities. No clear protocol was communicated, so I tried to handle contamination precautions myself. The timelines and guidance were uncertain throughout. The third room had separate problems: trash from a previous guest, an entryway light that barely worked, and a shower and bath that couldn’t be used independently without severely affecting water pressure and temperature. Once, housekeeping left used linen on top of clean clothes. After the bed bugs were confirmed, stress and hyper-vigilance badly disrupted my sleep for multiple consecutive nights. I was physically exhausted and couldn’t work effectively. Some immediate out-of-pocket expenses were later addressed, which I appreciate, but that didn’t change the overall experience: confirmed bed bugs, repeated room moves, poor conditions in the third room, unclear communication, and prolonged disruption. After I escalated at the brand level, I received 15,000 Bonvoy points as a goodwill gesture. I appreciate the acknowledgment, but the entire experience fell well below what I consider a reasonable standard for a Marriott-branded property. The staff I met during the stay were polite in person. Later, when I asked for the experience to be reviewed, communication changed significantly. Responses were limited and dismissive and didn’t meaningfully address the full scope of the issues. I’ve had professional reason to stay at this property multiple times over the years. In my experience, the lobby reflects Marriott branding standards, but the guest rooms have become significantly more worn compared with other Marriott locations. I don’t recommend this location to any paying customer. This review is about the experience of the stay itself.
My earlier stays at the Courtyard Marriott were trouble-free, with nice staff, clean rooms, and a good experience. This last visit changed that. There were children running around screaming and yelling while their parents got drunk and paid no attention to them. I’m usually not one to complain, but I eventually spoke to staff, who brought management in. They told me I could leave, with no compensation. Really? As a paying customer I expected at least a decent stay, and that’s what I got from Marriott? As a parent, I would never let my child run amuck and cause problems for others. The first visit was nice, but after this experience with staff and management, no. I’ll never return.
