Hampton Inn & Suites Lake Wales

The location was good, but there were a few unpleasant surprises. I found some mold in the shower, and in the morning the dark roast coffee was super cold. Then the elevator got stuck with me inside. It was close to five minutes, and I was starting to sweat and feel anxious. I pressed every button and eventually had to ring the alarm. When the doors finally opened, a crowd was waiting outside. I rushed out and had to take a moment to regroup. It was scary. At check-in, a rude, aggressive guest interrupted me. The front desk woman was kind and professional, told her, “I’m helping someone else,” and had to repeat it as the woman kept pushing in. I appreciated how she handled it. I stayed at this Hampton Inn for a local wedding last Saturday, 10 18 25.

The staff were great, from the front desk to the breakfast team and housekeeping. The hotel was easy to find along US 27, and my room was clean and spacious. The bathroom was spacious too, very clean, and well stocked.

The breakfast was good, and the staff were pleasant when we arrived. The place looked clean and attractive. But after unpacking, we found that the TV and several power outlets didn’t work. I tried calling the front desk to report it, but the phone didn’t work either. We stayed because I didn’t want to move all our things to another room. When I mentioned the problems at checkout, the attendant didn’t seem concerned or offer to make things right, just smiled and thanked us for coming. I’ll probably choose the hotel down the street next time I’m in the area.

We had prepaid for two nights at the Lake Wales Hampton Inn on October 30th, but our flight was late and we got there at 4 a.m. I’d called ahead to tell them we’d be arriving late. Nobody mentioned that the whole Hampton Inn reservation system was being “upgraded” that night. The computer system was down, and they said they couldn’t check us into a room. When I asked the night clerk how she could help, she got angry and said, “I already told you our system is down. There’s nothing I can do.” Eventually she directed us to a Holiday Inn down the road and said their manager would reimburse me. She didn’t call the Holiday Inn to let them know we were coming. All she did was take my name and number. She was unpleasant and unprofessional. By then, it was 4:30 a.m. The next day I called the manager, Mr. Rhett Miller. He said he’d call back, but never did. Two days later, when we checked out of the Holiday Inn, the front desk clerk told me our room had been paid for. No one at the Hampton Inn had bothered to tell us. I’ll never stay at a Hampton Inn again, and I’d suggest you do the same. Dean and Audrey Irwin
