Baymont by Wyndham Lakeland

Breakfast came with the stay: waffles, cereal, milk, and coffee. There was also a washer and dryer for an extra fee. The staff were friendly, and Michell at reception was especially warm and kind. We picked Baymoon by Wyndham Lakeland while taking a diving class because the price, quality, and location seemed like a good fit, and we were pleasantly surprised. The room was clean, the bedding had no stains or smells, and the air conditioner felt fresh, with recently changed filters. The TV worked perfectly, and we liked the quirky mirror. It was quiet, and the pool was a nice extra. Getting to the highway was easy, with fast food and gas stations nearby. It worked well for going north or south, and nearby towns were within reach. We also found cafes and restaurants close by, plus lots of diving spots, including lakes and grottoes. We'd recommend Baymoon by Wyndham Lakeland for a clean, comfortable, well located stay with good service at a really good price.

The front desk staff were nice and helped me get a refund through a third party. There were no bedbugs, and the water was hot. The phone number listed seems to be wrong. I could only reach the front desk by choosing “change reservation” and asking the third party to transfer me. I wasn't expecting a Walt Disney Resort, just basic quality. In the first room, the furniture was damaged, the bathroom door had a crack like someone had punched it, the blinds were broken, the floor felt dirty, and there were suspicious stains on the headboard. We asked to switch rooms, and the second one was worse. The fire alarm was missing. The vanity had bits of packaging stained into the counter, the sink was cracked and looked like it had been that way for a while, with water damage visible beneath the enamel, and little bugs crawling in it. We also found roach traps that looked old. The pillows were neatly arranged in the second room, unlike the first, which left me wondering whether the first room's sheets had been changed. Breakfast was only toast, cranberry and orange juice, coffee, and dry cereal. There was no milk. We also think cleaning staff may have taken a formal dress we believe we left behind, since the front desk said nothing had been turned in.

In room 222, the bed was comfortable, and the large fridge with freezer, TV, and microwave were all good features. The bright streetlight outside came through the blinds and kept the room partly lit, so I'd suggest adding a blackout curtain. The AC and heater were loud, and the vent was dusty. I ran my fingers over it and came away with clumps of dust.

We drove all the way from GA and had prepaid through a third party, but the woman at the desk insisted our booking was for December 4 to 5, even though our email showed December 5 to 6. She wouldn't let us speak to the manager or owner. My husband tried to keep calm, but things got heated when she refused to let him speak to anyone above her, saying he could talk to no one but her. She then started cussing at our family. So professional! We've stayed here since 2000, but never again. We're out $70 and had no room. I want to speak to the owner, and corporate will hear about this. Beware, their staff is nasty!
