Hampton Inn Lakeland

Easy to get to from the interstate, and there’s a restaurant right beside the hotel for lunch or dinner. My room was spotless, and bringing my pet was no problem. Breakfast was good too. The woman keeping the food stocked and the area tidy was working hard. Great stay.

We did have a decent free breakfast, but check-in left a bad impression. Our first room looked like cleaning had been abandoned halfway through: the trash bag was full and sitting on the floor, and the towels and sheets were dirty. The desk moved us to a clean room upstairs, though it had no hand soap and was only decent. The vending machines wouldn't accept either my card or cash. After proposing to my fiancée that same night, I was especially upset to run into these problems. I don't think I'd stay at another Hilton.

The hotel sits in a good area for restaurants and shopping, and it was especially convenient for seeing the family we came to visit. My dad and I had to make a last-minute trip to Lakeland for a funeral, so the location worked out perfectly. I'd recommend it.

The friendly staff helped make our stay more pleasant, and housekeeping was nice too. The room itself was another matter: it was dated, smelled strongly of mustiness, and the smell got worse when the air conditioning was on. Lysol and air freshener didn't help. The bathroom towel holders were loose enough to fall off, and there was a dark mark above the shower that might have been mold. We stayed the four days we had booked, but were ready to leave. This Hampton Inn needs updates.
