Holiday Inn Express & Suites Austin NW - Lakeway by IHG

The place was nice overall, but the shower needs a little scrubbing. It feels uncomfortable to step into a dirty shower. I added two photos, and the floor came clean when I gently scrubbed it with water and the provided washcloth. It wouldn't take much effort.

The beds were quite comfortable, which was a plus. If you can catch one of IHG's frequent flash sales, the price is decent, but this isn't one of the better Holiday Inn Express locations. In Room 329, the floor beneath the carpet was very lumpy. The shower control was odd, making it almost impossible to get anything between very hot and very cold, and it made a strange drumbeat sound when you did. Breakfast disappointed too: overcooked sausage, cheap concentrate-tasting juice, and a really sticky floor.

The location worked well for the sports tournament we were attending, but the stay was lackluster. We had booked two beds, then were told some rooms had to close and were moved to a King suite with a sleeper sofa. They did lower the rate. The employee knew we'd need the sofa bed, but left us without sheets or extra pillows, so we had to go downstairs to get them. The king bed was very firm and uncomfortable, and there were stains on the carpet. You could see recent updates in the paint and downstairs furniture. The juice also hadn't been mixed properly and was all concentrate, with no water.

Follow-up: I'm writing from the hotel. There are hardly any people here, and I hope Jerry or Shayna take this as constructive feedback. The first night was somewhat noisy. We stay with this IHG brand often, and this visit hasn't been pleasant. Housekeeping didn't empty the trash or clean up, and wet towels were left on the bathroom floor. My wife asked the front desk to leave extra towels while we were heading out, and they acknowledged it, but there were no clean towels. The shower enclosure has an opening that left my wife's house shoes soaked. We're extremely disappointed after giving the hotel chance after chance. We'll likely contact corporate, even though it's a franchise that carries the IHG brand. We stay here because it's near our son, and I believe we should get what we pay for. I hope Jerry or Shayna will do the right thing. I honestly don't think upper management knows how badly this property is managed. Jerry and Shayna did make things right after reading my review. We'll see how the next stay goes, and I'll review it then.
