Our basement door led straight to Sylvan Brewery, a great little place with really good beers and friendly people. I’ve been to Lanesboro many times, and this is now our go-to. We spent a couple of days here in December 2025, when it was very cold outside, but The Amish Room stayed completely comfortable. The room had its own outside door, comfortable beds, and a great heater. Anne was a wonderful host. She called when we arrived at the Minneapolis airport to arrange our late arrival, made breakfast at 8 am, and even gave me her personal hot sauce. Minnesota folks know how to make a comfortable place.

As someone who also owns a bed and breakfast, I admire the memorable experience you’ve put together at Stone Mill. The historic mill has been beautifully restored, and it offers a distinctive mix of charm and comfort right in downtown Lanesboro. Guests rave about the spacious rooms, some with whirlpools and fireplaces, and the expanded continental breakfast with locally made pastries. It’s also ideally placed for the Root River Trail, local shops, and the Commonweal Theatre.

The stairs up were very steep and shallow, which made carrying bags up and down difficult. I stayed in the Grain Room and liked it: the bed was comfortable and the sheets were soft. One heads-up about the bleach smell. It was quite irritating at first, though it either faded or I got used to it. I understand bleach is the best sanitizer, but wanted to mention it.

The staff were very friendly, and the place was quiet and close to all the local shops. Our themed room had a wonderful jacuzzi tub, and the price was very reasonable. We’ll definitely be back!

Breakfast was great, and the town has a feel I really love. Such a cute hotel! The bed was quite hard, but otherwise it was a nice stay.
