Suburban Extended Stay La Place

The staff were all nice, accommodating, and knew what they were doing, so they're not why I'm giving it three stars. Our toilet seat was broken, the carpet had tears, and we had to keep the room cold to cover up the mildew smell. It wasn't overpowering, but it was definitely there. We still enjoyed our stay and had a blast in New Orleans! 😊

We had to take our dirty towels to the front desk to get fresh ones after we ran out. The staff didn't greet us when we arrived, and instead of helping with check in, they were outside taking cigarette breaks. We felt like an inconvenience rather than guests. The customer service at the desk was VERY unfriendly, and the whole thing was unprofessional and inconvenient. Check in is extremely late and checkout is super early. Not worth it, and I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

We chose this place because it was much closer to work. The hotel itself is decent, but maybe only one of the many receptionists seems to take the job seriously. I've gone to the desk several times and found someone asleep or seemingly stoned. Once, I asked for change and the receptionist stared off for nearly 10 seconds. Another night, the person in the office seemed to have been asleep, with messy hair and sleepy eyes. The payment mix up cost us a lot. We were told Wednesday was our last day, so on the way to work we stopped to pay for another night. Then they said we had another day left, but noted our request to automatically charge us for two more nights. Two days later, our card was charged $475 for another week. We only needed two nights. Nobody warned us that payment was due or left a note, despite the note they had made. Someone charged the full amount without authorization. We couldn't get it changed and had to ask work for a few more days so we could make the money back. The stay wasn't that bad, but most of the people running the place, aside from the cleaning staff and one man who comes in dressed professionally, need another quick round of training. That's what would move this hotel from a 3.0 to a 4.5.

The photos online are misleading, this place looks nothing like them. Smoke smell fills the hotel, the shower curtain had mold, and the rooms weren't clean, with cobwebs in corners and behind fixtures. Some staff were hard to find when I needed towels, and the phones barely work, so good luck reaching the front desk. There is one person who is great, and she works during the day. I won't come back.
