DoubleTree by Hilton North Charleston - Convention Center

We paid over $400 for two nights, with four people in a two-queen room, but started with only three towels. This happens every time. When housekeeping serviced the room, they took all the towels and left just two new ones. They didn’t replenish the coffee supplies either, so once again we had to go ask at the front desk and deal with Miss “Personality.” They advertise a “free” breakfast, but if you have to leave before 7 AM, as we did for a volleyball tournament, you don’t get any. The front desk response was basically “oh well.” Management, we won’t stay again and don’t want excuses. Just do better.

I’ve booked and paid over the phone or online, but twice in the past couple of months I was denied a room here for multiple “technical” reasons. It was convenient because I work at the airport, but there are other hotels in the area.

The location is right off the highway, with plenty of parking close by, and it’s near the Outlets and a Chili’s within walking distance. I stayed two weeks and had nothing to complain about. The downstairs restaurant and bar serve a decent meal. The gym is small but makes good use of its space, and it’s pretty darn clean. There’s also a peaceful outdoor area for sitting and reading, and the pool is a nice size. Great place for a longer stay.

The staff were very nice. The bathroom had a strange smell, and a fire alarm chirping at 3 AM woke us up. Breakfast wasn’t free, the pool was closed, and the room was quite dusty. One elevator was broken, while the one that worked was slow.
