Travelodge La Porte/ Michigan City Area

The bed was great, and the TV had all the Roku channels you could want. The front desk staff were super nice and the room was very clean. This place is awesome. I'll be back when I'm in the area.

I booked this at the last minute because it was the only dog-friendly hotel in the area with availability. The place smelled awful, heavily of smoke, and there were human hairs all over the room and bathroom. The bathroom was disgusting, too. The toilet kept filling up with water and took ages to flush. There were lots of random people coming and going and hanging around the building, which felt creepy. The TV remote didn't work, which was extremely annoying. Next time I'd rather pay more for a better stay.

There were several dogs in the room next to ours, barking for more than three hours before we were moved to another room. Even though the hotel is supposed to be non-smoking, there was a cigarette smell, and the owners live there and smell of cigarette smoke.

I'm glad I didn't pack up and risk driving the rest of the way home at night. After moving to a second-floor room, we got a good night's sleep, the air conditioner worked well, and there was a good TV selection. We missed breakfast, but there was still some coffee. The first room was 112. I screamed when I opened the door and saw a cockroach beside my face and another on the bathroom floor. I rushed to reception, where the man was very kind and reassured me by arranging a new room that was much better.
