Motel 6 Capitol Heights, MD - Washington

I usually don't complain about hotel stays, but I couldn't get comfortable here and wanted to cut my stay short. The room was much more cramped than the picture suggested, and the whole place smelled like urine. Whoever checked me in wasn't very friendly. There was no mini fridge for leftovers or drinks, the light by the bathroom didn't work, and the pillows looked dingy. The TV was nice, but the channels were very basic. The shower curtain was too small and had no liner, so water got all over the floor. I wanted to bring these things up at the front desk but didn't, because I didn't want an argument. For the price I expected more. I stayed at a Motel 6 at another location and it wasn't like this at all.

The ice makers were out, but that didn't spoil my visit. There's security on site, and he takes his job seriously. The place can smell a little, but it has nice rates and rooms are always available, the only hotel in the area with that combination. I got a good night's sleep, watched TV for a bit, and had a hot shower in the morning. You get what you pay for, and I'll return.

We just needed somewhere to sleep after car trouble and heavy rain derailed our trip, then get back on the road in the morning. The room had a broken light, and the bathroom fan was hanging off the wall. Music from other rooms blared, there was no soundproofing, and a neighbor's shower woke us both in the middle of the night. Even though it was a non-smoking room, it smelled of cigarettes. Outside, the whole complex smelled of marijuana, and people hung around outside rooms all night. There were also lots of homeless people wandering around, and the area didn't feel good. The previous night we'd stayed at a Days Inn a few hours away in a good area. We paid less for a room at least twice this size, with tables and chairs to eat at, and had no complaints. This place charged $100 for a tiny room about half the size and couldn't even provide a working light. We would've been better off at a random roadside motel. I wouldn't recommend anyone stay here.

DO NOT STAY HERE!! I was almost raped at this property, and the owners refused to give me a refund. Men would see me going into a room alone, then knock on my door through the night when security wasn't there. Each time I reported it, security never came to check on me. On my last morning, before I was due to leave, a drug addict cornered me in the laundry area and the maintenance guy had to rescue me. This is an unsafe area. Don't travel here or stay here. Management is horrible!
