Walden Motel

I expected a cheap hotel, so the price caught me off guard at first. But the room was exceptionally clean, the bed was comfortable, and everything worked. Easily worth the extra 20 bucks.

It was the cheapest hotel, and the experience showed it. A friend and I were in the room when another friend nearby needed to use the restroom. The manager came and kicked all of us out. He threatened to call the police because I shut the door after he refused to leave while my female friend was trying to change. They supposedly refunded me, but a few hours later I still hadn't received anything.

The owner was incredibly kind and accommodating when I stayed at the Walden for a basketball tournament in Vegas. It's a no-frills place with a vintage Vegas feel, and the price suited our tight budget. The small fridge, microwave, cable, and AC were handy. It got a little noisy while the partiers got ready to go out, then stayed quiet overnight until they stumbled back around sunrise. If you just need a bed and a hot shower, this place does the basics with a smile. I'll return if I'm in Vegas again.

I ended up leaving. The place was filthy, the manager was rude and unhelpful, and the no-visitors rule hadn't been explained at check-in, even when I offered to pay. What is this, Alcatraz? The price was ridiculously high too. I could've had a room on the Strip, even with resort fees and a deposit, for less than this cesspool.
