Aquarius Casino Resort

The Aquarius is clean, in a convenient spot, and has a great coffee shop. I keep making a few days by the River a habit whenever I’m close enough to come by. Once school is back in session, there aren’t too many kids around, and the heat is bearable. There’s a nice patio deck too, usually wide open early or later in the day.

The food was poor and didn’t come close to what I expected for the price. Staff also came across as cold and passive-aggressive, with little effort to explain things or help solve the problem. I left feeling distressed and unwelcome. I was especially disappointed when they refused my valid Tribal ID without giving a clear explanation. As a Native person, that felt dismissive and deeply disrespectful, particularly at a casino. It was frustrating and embarrassing. Between that, the staff’s attitude, and the food, I won’t be coming back. Management should review its ID policy and customer service training.

The room was quiet, and everything in it worked. I had a clean suite in the Arizona tower with two queen beds, a sofa bed in the living area, and a kitchenette with a full sink. There was bedding for the sofa bed, three pillows on each queen, plenty of towels, and a coffee pod machine. The decor felt very 90s, right down to the popcorn ceilings, and the TVs seemed about 20 years old. Some updating would help. The price was fair. Check-in was okay, though staff were polite more than warm and moved people through quickly because it’s busy. With six elevators, I rarely had to wait. The rest was what I’d expect from a casino hotel.

I came for two days with a friend, but the pool situation really affected our short stay. The first day it was closed because no lifeguard showed up, and the next day it shut early for the same reason. There was no notice, and they expected us to walk or drive to the hotel next door. I’m disabled and 60, and my friend is 74. I could have stayed at the Tropicana or Riverside without this problem. Aquarius didn’t seem to care at all.
