We came here for our 41st anniversary and found a real hidden gem. The beach stayed uncrowded, and we had our own beach access. The water looked clearer than at other spots, and there was even an osprey nest nearby. We also had fun looking for shells and fossilized shark teeth, and the kitchen was handy. Best of all, the sand flies left us alone.

The beachside location and access to the heated private pool were great, but our stay in unit 34 was a letdown. It looked spacious online and had a private back deck, yet the place was sticky, dirty, dated, and smelled moldy. The beds creaked and felt broken, the comforters were dusty, and the kitchen had a jumble of mismatched, poor-quality items. There were loads of DVDs but no player, and the internet and TV kept cutting out and running slowly. For what it costs, the owner should put more into updating it. My whole family got sick after we left, and I suspect the room wasn't cleaned properly between guests.

Pretty cool spot if you have a boat, and the staff were friendly. It does need some upkeep, though. There are no ceiling fans, which we really needed, and nowhere to set soap or shampoo in the shower, so it had to sit on the floor. It was also really loud by the boat ramp, with teenagers partying alongside their trucks.

The room and location were both nice, but the courtyard could feel more inviting. Big trash bins are spread around, and guests are expected to take their room trash out themselves, which made the stay feel a bit like a chore. They do supply soap, though not shampoo, so bring your own if you use it.

Natalie and JJ, who run the place, are awesome. I’ve been coming for around 15 years, and my wife’s been staying here about 40. We always have a good time.
