Motel 6 Laurel, DC - Washington Northeast

The room wasn’t the worst, but the sheets and towels had hair and stains, and there were roaches and other bugs. There were junkies around, which made the place unpleasant. We came back another day for a room and were told we were banned from the property because a “blanket” was missing. Absolutely horrible experience.

Maintenance just saved my experience, so I deleted my one-star rating. The property is in poor repair. When I point out something broken to the front desk, they accuse me of breaking it, and they won’t move me to a working room even when rooms are available. The Wi-Fi is almost nonexistent here and at the owner’s other properties. At the Frederick Motel 6, I had a room where AC condensation pooled in a corner instead of draining outside. This owner needs to have his franchise branding taken away. 💯

At 5 a.m. today, a rude front desk employee turned me away, even though I’ve stayed here multiple times as an 18 year old traveling to Baltimore. As far as I know, Motel 6 is one of the few places that lets an 18 year old stay, and I’ve never seen a policy saying otherwise. Motel 6 should either make its advertising match its actual standards or fire the lazy employee who didn’t want to check people in. I’m an 18 year old girl with nowhere to stay in this city now, and that leaves customers in dangerous situations. The last couple of times I stayed here, the rooms were disgusting, and the air conditioners made my throat hurt. The place needs a proper cleaning and an update ASAP.

We reserved a nonsmoking room, but when we arrived they only had smoking rooms. The receptionist had a very rude attitude and wouldn’t listen to my concerns. There was no TV either. I called the front desk and was told there was nothing she could do and TVs would be available at 9 a.m. She didn’t offer another room or show any empathy. Very bad experience. If you don’t like your job, switch occupations. I hope the manager can make things better.
