This place is wildly overpriced and nasty. My sister was moved several times, and every room had bugs and mold in the A/C units. There was used body wash and shampoo in every shower, hair and a dead roach in one fridge, and food under the beds. Housekeeping barely seems to do the minimum. I’ve worked as a cleaner for over 15 years, and I’d be surprised if they’re even changing the sheets. On top of that, a deadbolt was broken, so the room wasn’t safe. When my sister refused to stay, they wouldn’t refund her. What a joke.

The room cost $115, but the toilet wouldn’t flush. I called the front desk and got an after-hours number, then tried calling it several times without anyone answering. Since my daughter is just potty trained and lets us know whenever she needs to go, we had to pack up our two kids and drive to a gas station across the street or Dollar General a mile away. This happened on Thanksgiving. When I called later to explain the problem, the woman said she’d look into it. A week afterward, they put a $50 credit on my card. I appreciated them acknowledging the issue and trying to make it right, but I think the compensation should have covered the full room charge. When I called the after-hours number at 11:45 to ask why it wasn’t a full refund, the woman was extremely rude and said $50 was fair. It wasn’t fair to me, given the trouble of driving a mile with two kids just to use a basic motel amenity. I won’t return, and I suggest avoiding this place.

We arrived from out of town at 11 p.m. during Bikefest, when every room nearby was booked, and ended up stranded with nowhere to stay. I’d booked through Expedia, and I understand the place preferred direct bookings. The representative made sure I knew that. He confirmed my reservation on the phone, but spent over an hour belittling me for using a third party instead of helping me check in. He said all he could do was resend the automated check-in details, which I told him I couldn’t receive. After all that arguing and being made to feel like gum on the bottom of a shoe, he finally texted the details. Why not send them as soon as I called and confirmed who I was? We slept in our vehicle, hours from home, because of the poor service. I blocked customer service after the harassment continued, and I have screenshots of the whole situation. The representative’s demeaning attitude and unprofessionalism were beyond awful. I’m never staying here again. Don’t bother with a BS response.

If you expect very little, this place might be for you. I wish I’d read the reviews first, because I would’ve avoided this poorly maintained dump. The TV remote had dead batteries, the floors were dirty, and neither the room’s coffee pot outlet nor the lobby coffee pot worked. The room smelled bad enough that I had to buy air freshener. There was no manager on site, only someone available remotely from Texas. And that’s not even the whole list. Never again.

The contactless check-in was easy and smooth, and the location was convenient for restaurants, shops, and the lake. It was a cozy, quirky little inn, with a vintage feel, and our room was spotless and smelled fresh when we arrived. The price suited us, leaving more room in the budget for lake activities and local dining. The room felt snug, and the AC worked hard in the August heat, though warm air coming in around the edges made it work overtime. Boat parking was a nice bonus. Housekeeping wasn’t included, so a few extra towels and supplies would have helped for a multi-night stay. The lobby coffee bar is a good idea, but napkins and stirrers would make mornings easier. A few guests drinking beer on their company work truck tailgates in the evening gave things more of a worksite feel than the quiet, family-friendly lakeside atmosphere we’d hoped for. For this price and location, it’s good value, and we’d consider coming back.
