Marjorie's Kauai Inn, a bed and breakfast

We ended up at Marjorie's after our other booking on the north side of the island fell through, and I’m really glad it worked out that way. The quiet setting feels miles from everything, though restaurants and shops are just a short drive away. The room was comfortable, the views were stunning, and breakfast was phenomenal. From my first reservation inquiry, the staff were kind and made everything feel personal. Wonderful views, wonderful people. Absolutely recommend!

The patio rainbows were amazing, and I loved watching the birds in the trees and the neighbors’ cattle pasture below the pool. There were even binoculars to borrow. Quick passing showers made for a fun bit of weather watching. What a remarkable stay! 😁 Jenn’s baking was the icing on the cake for me. I’m still thinking about the quiche, pineapple, and fruit cheese spread. Her fresh sourdough with local marmalades gave San Francisco a run for its money, and the triple berry granola bake with its sugar alternative made a great night time treat. I could have warmed it up, but it was so good I didn’t need to. Jim greeted me warmly and gave me a quick walkthrough, so I felt at home right away. Even though I booked last minute, they kept helping with my questions about the weather, location, and itinerary, and answered everything. I was also contacted when I could check in early on my weekday stay. The B&B was clean and well appointed, with useful comforts like book exchange shelves, a mini medical and sunblock station, and complimentary fruit, chips, and snacks. The information booklets covered nearby necessities such as doctors. My room had a super cold fridge, coffee and tea, bath robes, and great A/C. In November, I preferred leaving the doors open for the views and sounds of nature, so I didn’t really need the A/C. It felt like a big upgrade from a standard chain hotel. You get a neighborhood feel, with people who really care that you enjoy your time on Kauai. It felt resort luxurious while still connected to island culture, with caring guides close at hand.

Alexis and Mike were superb hosts, with great guest service and amazing breakfasts. The rooms were very nice, with lovely balcony views and A/C for hot afternoons. At night I could just open the doors and let in the breeze, so there was no need for A/C then. The quiet neighborhood and beautiful scenery make this a great choice if you want to avoid the busy coast. Poipu Beach, Koloa, and Hanapepe are about 10-15 minutes away, depending on traffic, and rush hour might add a couple of minutes. Lihue Airport is around a 25-30 minute drive. The north shore areas of Hanalei and Princeville are about an hour away.

The shared breakfasts at Majorie’s Kauai Inn were delicious and made it feel like a real community. Staying at Marjorie’s felt like being at home away from home. I’m so glad I found this place!
