Baymont Inn & Suites Lawton

We picked this hotel because it was near Fort Hill for my son's basic training graduation. I asked for a new fitted sheet, but they changed the flat top sheet instead and left the fitted one. I also saw a manager berate an employee who arrived one minute late, making her visibly uncomfortable. She looked to be in her late 60s or early 70s and seemed to be working hard just to get by. Seeing her treated that way made me uncomfortable, and I didn't appreciate it.

The breakfast was awful every day. It was just two biscuits and barely any sliced sausage, with gravy in a bag and no juice, milk, water, or coffee for anything. Service wasn't good either. My room had bedbugs, and a guy came in and tried to kill one with a paper coffee cup. I'm partially handicapped, but with all those problems he still wanted to move me to the third floor. The TV didn't work. Avoid this place unless you want to make friends with bedbugs.

The room was clean, though worn and dated. Its floor sloped, the towels were small, rough, and worn out, and the phone cord was disconnected from the base and broken. The hotel was affordable, but it needs a lot of help. Breakfast was terrible. The gravy sat in a plastic bag inside a crock pot and looked days old, with hardly any in there. The sausage slices were paper-thin, the eggs were dry, the bread was stale, and there was no fruit. Of the juice machine's four spouts, one didn't work, two gave water, and one had cranberry-flavored water. The waffle machine was the only thing that redeemed breakfast. Coffee was in the lobby, not the breakfast area.

The location was great, but we wouldn't stay here again or recommend it. Our room wasn't as advertised, with dirty, worn furniture and a bad smell, so we burned a candle and used air freshener. The shower had no pressure or hot water, and the soap tray and shower had rusty screws. My wife thought the chair was so dirty she asked for a sheet to cover it. They did fix the hot water and improved the pressure somewhat. Room service came in while we were out despite the do not disturb sign. The indoor pool looked cloudy, with little circulation and no apparent filtration, and it was closed the next day. Free breakfast was offered, but we didn't eat.
