The Delaware Hotel

Mineral is worth a visit on its own. We had an incredible meal there, and Matthew was friendly, attentive, and happy to answer our questions about the hotel and its history. The staff clearly take pride in the place. At check-in, Jill welcomed us and shared so much about the hotel's rich past. The Historic Delaware Hotel has been around since 1886, yet feels warm and inviting, with plenty of charm. We loved staying here in Leadville and recommend it to anyone who enjoys Colorado history, character, and great hospitality.

You can hear people walking and the floor creaking upstairs, which comes with the age of the hotel. It didn't bother me much, though light sleepers might want earplugs. The place really feels like stepping back in time. The decor, lounge and bar, and restaurant are great. Coffee's ready at 5am for anyone heading out on a morning adventure.

The hotel has a comfortable feel, the staff are friendly, and the restaurant inside serves very good food with plenty of drink choices. It's a lovely historic place. Keep in mind there are stairs and no elevator, so you'll need to carry your luggage. The stand-up showers are very small, which I'm not used to, and I found that challenging.

We used this charming old hotel for three days of skiing at nearby Ski Cooper. It's a unique historic place, and the rooms look much as they did in the late 1800s. The first floor has been renovated, but the rooms haven't; expect uneven floors and old carpets. The bathrooms were very clean, though, and the beds comfortable. Everyone on staff was friendly. There's no parking lot, so we parked on the street.
