Best Western Plus Chain of Lakes Inn & Suites

The room rate was great, and there were lots of nearby restaurants. Breakfast had plenty of delicious food and drinks. Our first room’s shower only trickled and wouldn’t get hot, but the front desk person checked the next room’s water before moving us and brought the key right to our room. Staff were friendly and helpful, and check-in was quick. The first room had two queen beds, average space, plenty of outlets, and lots of lamp options. The bathrooms had plenty of towels and nice toiletry extras. It’s about an hour from the Disney parks. This is an older hotel, so we didn’t expect much. The parking lot entrance was hard to navigate, and the dark lobby, dark walls and counter, and neon lighting gave it a shady Vegas feel. The elevator is old but works, and the tiny kid-sized furniture in the common area made it feel family-friendly.

The main problem was the front desk experience with Dennis. I arrived around 7:00-7:20 p.m. and was told I needed a credit card to guarantee a reservation booked through my company. I didn’t have one with me. Dennis was dismissive and rude, showed no empathy, and kept saying the reservation wouldn’t be honored without a card. He laughed at one point, which felt very unprofessional and uncomfortable, as if he were mocking my accent. I called my manager to provide his card, but Dennis first refused to speak on the phone and offered no other option. After my manager insisted several times, Dennis finally agreed to send an authorization form. The whole process took nearly an hour. His only real suggestion was that I leave and drive three hours home at night. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. The room was just OK, didn’t feel truly clean, and had visible maintenance issues. I’m attaching photos of a damaged bathroom fixture. The bathroom light flickered, hot water came and went, and my key stopped working several times.

Lloyd checked us in and was kind, knowledgeable, and professional. He went above and beyond and clearly cared about our stay, which made for a lovely start. The room was quiet and super clean, with towels folded into cute designs. I love their pillows, and the lit mirror is pretty neat, so check it out. We loved staying here and would definitely return if we’re in the area. Smiles!

Breakfast was disappointing. Both staff members were sitting at a table on their phones, and neither looked up or answered when I said good morning. It was a striking lack of courtesy and professionalism. After a miserable night, we asked to check out late so we could get a little more rest, but the desk refused and said they’d charge us for even one extra hour. We also had trouble over our two certified service dogs, one for me and one for my husband. The front desk allowed only one without charge and made me pay for the other despite the documentation. When we got to the room, the AC was off and it smelled damp and unpleasant. Even after running it for hours, it barely worked and the room stayed hot, so I couldn’t rest properly. My husband asked to move rooms, but they said the hotel was full, which seemed unlikely given the low tourism rate in Leesburg. I usually stay at Best Western because my husband used to work for the brand and speaks highly of it. We’ll be visiting more for work, but we won’t stay here again or recommend this location to our clients.
