Wingate by Wyndham Leesburg Florida

The rooms look decent, but the hall carpets are stained and old, and the vending machines on each floor were empty except for two items. There aren’t any soda machines on the floors, only a couple of drink choices in the lobby. I don’t understand the hotel’s rating and would look for another place if I stayed in Leesburg again. The TV setup was disappointing too. There are two remotes, one for Roku and one for Direct TV, with no instructions. Staff said to use Direct TV to turn it on, but that didn’t work. Roku did turn it on, though there were only a few channels.

I stayed for three days. Housekeeping never came to clean or take the trash, and there was a dry urine stain on the comforter.

The room was disgusting, with a horrible odor that never went away and made us both feel nauseous. It was late and there was nowhere else to go. The bathroom was dirty, with long dark hairs in the shower, peeling paint and scuffs on the walls. The mattress was lumpy and worn, and the bedside phone charging station didn’t work. We used 15,000 hard-earned Wyndham Rewards points for one night at the Wingate by Wyndham in Leesburg, Florida. My companion and I are both Wyndham Rewards members, and I’m also a group travel guide and travel agent. What a waste. This place should be rated half a star, and if I’d paid cash, it wouldn’t have been worth more than $35 a night. The property is run down and filthy. The lobby made us uneasy as soon as we checked in: peeling paint and wall coverings, a dirty floor, and an old, dingy appearance. There was a nearly empty vending machine and a worn couch by the desk. The elevator was rickety, and on the third floor the hallway carpet was dirty, worn, and smelled bad. The walls were scuffed and needed repainting, and there was another empty vending machine by the elevator. There were too many problems to list. It’s obvious to me that Wyndham doesn’t inspect its properties, and it should be ashamed to have its name on this place. The experience made me question the corporation. As a travel agent, I won’t recommend any Wyndham hotel to my clients. I’d advise avoiding this one and the Wyndham brand.

The AC filters were filthy, so I had to wash them in the bathroom. The heater didn’t work either.
