Homewood Suites by Hilton Dallas-Lewisville

I booked this for a work trip without reading the reviews, and that was a mistake. The room smelled like it had been converted from a smoking room, while the entrance had a nursing home smell. There were several unpleasant odors. The shower and toilet weren't well maintained, with big stains and corrosion or residue. The mattress was heavily stained when I checked it for bedbugs, though thankfully not with blood. I didn't find any bugs, but I wouldn't have been shocked if I had. I spent much longer checking than I normally would. This doesn't meet the quality or experience I expect from a Hilton property. You'd be better off saving your money and staying at motel 6.

The front desk was friendly and helpful from the start, and they let us check in a few hours early without a problem. The room was a good size for a family with kids, but everything else was bad. To reach the elevator you had to walk all the way down the hall, then walk back along it to get to the room. The kitchen was missing things I usually find at a Homewood Suites: paper towels, dish rags, and forks, though it did have spoons and knives. There was a dishwasher but no soap. A drawer hit the dishwasher and wouldn't open, and the two tiny trash cans weren't enough for family waste. A broken plastic strip at the carpet seam caught my bare foot, though thankfully it didn't cut me. The bathroom was the worst, with mold around the tub and peeling wallpaper. Then a huge roach crawled out. I've never seen one that big outside a zoo, and I'm glad my wife wasn't there to see it. The location was crowded and awkward to reach, sharing a parking lot with fast food places. As a Hilton Honors member who stays at Hiltons wherever I go, I thought this was the sketchiest one. After I posted a negative review, the hotel manager apparently didn't like it and charged me a bogus $50 fee. A case with Hilton was pending. Update 12-11-25: Hilton refunded my $50. Maybe they'll disassociate from this hotel.

It's a convenient location, and you can earn points with this Hilton property. Breakfast is good, and the staff have always been nice. The rooms and bedding seem clean, and I usually sleep well. I'm not trying to discourage anyone from staying, but the furniture, bathroom toilets, and tubs are badly in need of replacement and updating.

The room was on the ground floor, and I could hear noises from upstairs and next door that kept waking me. The air conditioning didn't work, and there was a large dead cockroach in the living room. Around 2 a.m. I had heartburn, but there was very little in the lobby to help. Even the night clerk apologized, saying management hadn't kept the remedies stocked. The hot tub jets didn't work, and the water was about 70 degrees. It was also very hard to shut the door to the hallway.
