The room photo online was misleading, and what I was charged felt outrageous. The rate went from $55 to $70 a night. There were cockroaches and other bugs, the floor was slippery, and shower water could flood the bathroom. The gates were locked, and there were homeless people throughout the streets nearby, which felt like a dangerous part of town. I couldn't sleep because the guest next door was fighting all night. Booking.com was involved in the booking, and I don't recommend that service either. This place was a joke.

We were on a road trip down to SoCal and chose this place based on its generally good reviews. The check-in woman was pleasant and bilingual, and the parking lot is gated. That was about all I liked. We left early, relieved to get out. The area felt unsafe, and the old, bare hotel looked run down inside and out. The sheets seemed clean and I didn't see bugs, but the floor and tub were dirty. The building looked like it was crumbling under a coat of paint. There was only a thin sheet on the bed, and the spare blanket in the closet was covered in hair, so we didn't trust it and froze all night. The towels smelled bad, and the door had a gap and an insecure lock. They also have strange rules, including no visitors after 8 PM and a $5 fee if you leave your key in the room at checkout. Like another reviewer mentioned, it did seem as if some people there were in a halfway house. Checkout staff weren't as nice as the person who checked us in. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

The rooms looked clean, but there was only one blanket, and I didn't have a good night's stay. I wouldn't book here again. The location didn't feel safe to me, though the gate around the parking lot helped a little. The front desk woman was really nice and found a non-smoking room. We tried three different rooms, but they all had a strong cigarette smell even though they were marked non-smoking. It gave me a headache. I'm writing this so people know what to expect.

A restaurant is right downstairs, with a gas station and chicken place across the street. There's also a library opposite, and Starbucks and a bank are an easy walk away. It's a short walk to the waterfront, too. The rooms were clean and smelled clean, and the staff were lovely. I liked that the parking gate is shut at night. I'd stay here again.

The room was very clean, and for the price it was okay, though it could've been better. Our TV didn't work, the shower drained slowly, and the bed could've used a thicker blanket. The place could use a bit of a modern update.
