Hampton Inn Lexington-Historic District

We stayed one night, arriving after 7 p.m. and leaving after a quick breakfast. The rooms were fine and clean, and the building with the front desk had a nice look, though without a sign I wouldn't have known it was the hotel. The problem was that we were assigned a room that was already occupied when we entered it. We had to go back to the desk and tell them. They should have known that already.

What a great surprise. If you like antiquing and that kind of thing, the hotel's location and classic feel are a good fit. I think it was previously owned by a center, or maybe it was a governor's mansion, I'm not sure. The inside is absolutely beautiful. If you get the chance to book a room there, do it.

I've stayed at this Hilton many times over the years and am a Hilton Honors member. I keep choosing Hilton for its consistency, cleanliness, and usually warm hospitality, and this property has generally lived up to that. The hotel is always very clean, most staff are welcoming and kind, and I liked the newer digital TV remote. It was a nice in-room improvement. This stay was disappointing because we couldn't get the room temperature comfortable. We were freezing through the night. Set the thermostat to 80 and the heat came on, quickly making the room too hot. Set it anywhere below 80 and the room became freezing cold. I called the front desk, but the staff member insisted that couldn't happen because each room's thermostat has a cap. I calmly explained what we were experiencing, but felt dismissed and not believed. No apology was offered, which was especially disappointing as a repeat guest and loyal Hilton Honors member. I hope they take this feedback seriously. I expect guest concerns to be met with care and professionalism.

The room worked really well for our trip to the horse show at the Virginia Horse Center. We had our 6-month-old Aussie with us, and there was plenty of grass for walks and enough space indoors for his kennel. Parking was easy, the bed was super comfortable, the room stayed properly cold, and the shower pressure was just right. Clean and convenient too. We’d stay again next time we’re in Lexington.
