Homewood Suites Lexington-Hamburg

The rooms were huge and outstanding, and the whole place felt brand new. The staff were excellent in every way. One of the best hotel stays I've had in almost two years.

Nice hotel, great room, and very nice staff. The place was clean, but breakfast was grim, the room was cold, and the fireplace didn't work.

My room was clean and the bed was comfortable, though the hotel shows its age despite the updates. Some hallway carpet squares were coming up, and space heaters were set around the common areas. I booked a suite with an accessible bathtub, but was assigned a roll-in shower. My room also faced Hwy 75 at the back of the property, and the traffic noise was very loud at night. If you're a light sleeper, ask for a room on the front side. I called the front desk and was told only four rooms have tubs, all were occupied, and no other rooms away from the highway were available. I understand when a hotel is full or the booked room type can't be provided, but a heads-up at check-in would have helped set expectations and avoided the confusion. I travel for work most of the month and stay at Hilton properties regularly, so accurate room descriptions matter to me. It was fine for a short business trip, but the room assignment communication and noise made it less enjoyable than I expected.

The spacious room was a plus, though the bathroom felt small, and the kitchen had only a few utensils. There was no kettle, so heating water meant using the electric stove, which isn't as easy. Breakfast was my main frustration. Nobody was keeping the food stocked. The front desk person eventually made eggs, but by then they'd been sitting for about 20 minutes and were too cold to eat. There were fillings but no tortillas, and when I asked, the employee said everything was meant for scrambled eggs. That seemed odd, since nobody's going to eat the fillings with eggs. Even with those issues, this is one of our favorite hotels to stay at across the US.
