Holiday Inn Express & Suites Liberal by IHG

This was a great halfway stop between Kansas City and Albuquerque, and my husband and I really enjoyed staying here. The staff were kind and helpful. I left two very important bracelets by the pool, and they mailed them back to me. I’m so grateful, thank you! While you’re here, get beers at Tortuga Brewing, tacos from Guayaba Cuisine, and morning coffee at The Cozy Corner.

The rooms were clean, the coffee was good, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I liked having Dove body wash and shampoo in the shower, along with hand soap and lotion by the sink. But the bathroom wasn’t in great shape, which was disappointing since we’d stayed here a couple of times over the past few years and this visit felt worse. The ceiling above the shower looked like it had water damage and a poor repair, the wallpaper was bubbling from moisture, and the showerhead barely gave enough water to rinse off. It needs a thorough cleaning or replacement.

The staff are the main reason I’d recommend this hotel. We’ve spent four nights here because our truck broke down, and we’re 14 hours from home, working on it in the parking lot. The staff have helped us more than they needed to, been patient with us and our dogs, and gone above and beyond to make us comfortable. Especially Stacy, thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. You’re amazing, and we appreciate everything you do. We’ll stop here again when we pass through. The hotel is spotless, without that musty hotel smell, and the cleaning crew does an amazing job. I thought it was fairly new because it was so clean, but it’s been around for seven years. The continental breakfast is one of the best I’ve seen in a long time, with lots of choices: veggie and cheese omelets, warm cinnamon rolls, biscuits and gravy, turkey sausage, oatmeal with plenty of toppings, pancakes, juice, and fresh ground coffee. Ya’ll are phenomenal!

The breakfast was disappointing. The man running it in the morning seemed lazy: families came down to find no food out, and he stood talking with the woman at the front desk while multiple items in the food area were low. If the place had been full, it looked like there would have been nothing. The pool heater was out, and the hot tub was so hot we couldn’t use it. These standards were below what I expect from any other Holiday Inn Express. Excuses won’t cover the lack of work ethic here. I won’t return.
