Sleep Inn & Suites Mifflinville - Bloomsburg

I came back for another stay and was impressed by how much the renovations had changed the property. The whole place feels brand new, and they’ve done a great job. I managed to take some pictures of the updates. They said breakfast service and a fitness room would be available soon, which should make staying here even better. Looking forward to coming back.

The room was clean, and I’d give the place 4.5 stars. Some complaints in other reviews seemed unfair to me. One person posted a photo of the country club while complaining about abandoned cars, but that had nothing to do with the hotel. Complaints about the location and lack of nearby restaurants also seemed unreasonable. It’s right off the highway, and town is only about a two-minute drive away. Check gas prices, though. They’re all high, and the big station with the lit-up sign you can see from the highway is a rip-off. There aren’t many amenities, and the pool is closed. The lobby has a really nice coffee and hot cocoa machine. What brought my rating down was that there was no soap in the bathroom for handwashing, and they didn’t have any stocked for guests. Also, the toilet paper roll had only about 30% left, which seemed kind of gross.

We only tried this place because Bloomsburg was sold out and it was close enough. The morning staff were kind and friendly, the coffee was okay, and the bed was comfortable. There were lots of guests with pets, so it could be a four-star option if you travel with one. Their planned breakfast bar could make it even better. We won’t be back, though. My husband and I are allergic to dogs and cats, and after one night in the room we were sick for more than a week. We could smell dog in the bathroom, perhaps from the previous guest. Our allergies can’t handle pet dander or odors.

The room was old and dirty, and the desk attendant was neither professional nor courteous. That kind of demeanor doesn’t belong in hospitality. The comforter had a stain that looked like blood, and I took a picture. There was no soap in the shower, the bathroom fan didn’t work, the tub spigot was nearly falling off, and bugs were on the ceiling. This place needs an inspector to come by.
