DoubleTree Hotel Baltimore - BWI Airport

The airport location felt easy and safe, and pickup was hassle-free. Staff were quick and helpful. You can use your phone as a key, and toiletries are available at the front desk. The downside for me was that there are no spa services.

The staff were genuinely welcoming and nice, which I appreciated. The rest of the stay fell short. The room felt neglected: the wallpaper seams showed clearly and it was peeling in places, the bathroom mirror was crooked, and a dresser cabinet was broken. There was also a big gap under the door, so noise carried and privacy was poor. We asked housekeeping for an extra towel to block it. The property’s upkeep was a problem elsewhere too. On my first day, I saw leftover pizza on a plate outside another guest’s room. It stayed there for three to four days before anyone removed it. Several times, people were smoking weed by the doors under the covered shuttle drop-off area, which made leaving the hotel unpleasant. For the price, I’d have been happier at a budget chain like Red Roof Inn, where I’d expect basic conditions to fit the cost, and I honestly think the room and service would have been better. I’ve stayed at DoubleTrees before and loved them, so this was a huge letdown.

I had no complaints about the front desk or any of my interactions with employees. They were friendly, helpful, and did a great job. The lobby looked nice, and the Halloween decorations were fun. It’s a reasonable distance from the airport and rental car drop-off. I stayed here for a very early flight. The floor cleaner, though, was one of the strongest and worst-smelling cleaning products I’ve encountered. It has a cheap, synthetic, chemical smell that lingers and really affected my stay. The same cleaner seemed to be used in the guest bathroom, making the room feel cheap too. To be fair, the room was cheap, but I’d recommend changing the product. A restaurant in my hometown uses the same cleaner, and I stopped going because the smell is so strong and off-putting.

The room was standard but nice, clean, and quiet, and the front desk employee was nice too. The hotel is close to the airport, with shuttles every 30 minutes. They’re first come, first served, with no reservations. There’s a bar attached and a nice seating area.
