Residence Inn by Marriott BWI Airport

The highway is the main drawback here: traffic noise can be loud around the clock, so ask for an odd-numbered room in the middle. The entry scanner is also awkwardly placed by the attractive security fence, making it uncomfortable to reach from the curb. Still, this is my regular choice in the area. I travel for work often and have stayed at most nearby properties, and this one is among the best. The rooms and hotel are very nice, and the whole desk team is friendly and helpful. Toro Bravo, about a mile away, also does one of the best steak quesadillas I’ve had.

We ended up booking at the Sheraton next door, where we were treated with kindness and professionalism as soon as we arrived. At the BWI Marriott, my fiancée had paid for a room, but staff still wouldn’t properly help her. The front desk woman was rude and dismissive while we were there with our son, daughter, and her disabled mother in a stressful situation. The family needed basic help and respect, and the way this was handled was unacceptable from start to finish. Based on what happened, I think the Marriott should be seriously investigated.

Myra is a big reason I’ll come back. She made great conversation, sorted out a problem with my shuttle pickup, and remembered me when I returned for my second visit. I spend 200+ nights a year at Marriott, and people like her keep me loyal. The property is cute, though the walls are a little thin. I especially love the free laundry since I’m on the road so much. I hope Myra gets recognized for her service.

This is the worst Marriott property I’ve stayed at. I usually leave plenty of four- and five-star reviews, so I don’t complain often, but this place was horrible. There was a bug at the front desk, which I figured might have come in by the entrance, then I saw two small roaches in the bathroom. Other reviews mention bugs too, so it isn’t just my complaint. Parking costs $10 per car per night in this suburban area, and the spaces are so tight they’re difficult to maneuver without risking damage to your car or someone else’s. Housekeeping also knocked and woke me up.
