DoubleTree by Hilton Lisle Naperville

The room was comfortable, though it looked dated, and there’s remodeling underway right now. Breakfast at the restaurant was decent. Dinner was another story: the soup arrived barely warm, the Caesar salad wasn’t good, and the key lime pie was covered with strawberry sauce and dried coconut. I guess they were trying to make it fancy, but those toppings completely overwhelmed the pie.

The window was so poorly sealed that ice formed inside it and melted into water. I worried it would lead to mold, and the draft made the room uncomfortable. The bathroom smelled like urine, the carpet was disgusting, and I found stains on the walls, hair on the towels, cobwebs near the curtains, and dust piled up about an inch deep in places. The dust set off my allergies. The furniture looked ancient, and I didn’t even want to sit on the couch. When I requested a fridge, housekeeping left it outside my door for me to haul in. It also worked badly and froze my salad solid, ruining lunch for the next day. This place falls far short of the Hilton standard. I know renovations are happening, but basic cleaning should still be done properly. The hotel is a complete dump. Hilton should be ashamed to have its name on it, and I’d choose a Motel 6 instead. I’d give it zero stars if I could.

The pool was great, and everyone we dealt with was friendly. We really enjoyed our stay, especially the complimentary breakfast buffet with waiter service. We’ll definitely visit again.

The modern design and very comfortable room made my stay a positive one. Staff were friendly, professional, and always available. Getting around the area was easy from this location, which added to the experience. I’d highly recommend the hotel.
