We waited over an hour for towels, and the explanation was that they were still washing and drying them. The room had no working TV remote or phone, and every ice machine was out of order. There’s no laundry facility either. The bathroom was filthy, with used toilet paper rolls, dirty floors and tub, no light, and a broken showerhead. Carpets throughout the room were stained and torn, and the lobby, hallways, and elevators were disgusting.

The lobby was clean, the staff were friendly, and the location is great. The condition changed as soon as I left the lobby. The elevator was dirty, and my room smelled like smoke as soon as I opened the door. There were incense sticks outside and inside the room, including in the air conditioner, with ashes on the floor and AC. The floors hadn’t been vacuumed, the furniture was badly stained, and the tub was dirty. There weren’t any towels. I showed the staff member photos and told her about it, but she just said, “I’ll tell them.”

The hotel’s location worked well for our retreat, just five minutes away, beside Stonecrest Mall and close to shops and restaurants. The lobby looked clean, but that was about the only positive. There are two other hotels next door, and I wish we’d tried one of them. Our floor smelled strongly of garbage, with an uncovered bin outside our door near the elevator. The next day the smell was even worse, like feces. In the room, it was hard to tell whether the linens had been changed. There was hair on the floor and in the kitchenette sink. The sheets had stains and holes, and the pillows on the king bed looked used and felt worn out. There were only two regular pillows and one small square one. The carpet had stains and cigarette burns. The coffee maker didn’t seem sanitary to use. A staff member on the floor was kind enough to vacuum and replace the bedding. Other service during our stay was less professional. My mother asked for towels, but when we returned that evening the cleaner had left clean towels on the sink while the full trash can and dirty towels remained on the floor. Maybe there was confusion about whether to make the bed, but leaving the rubbish and used towels there was strange. Staff also took hours to respond to requests. We understood that people from a rehab facility also stay here. I don’t think that’s a valid reason for the lack of service or upkeep, though I wondered whether it played a part. The retreat’s designated hotel was the Hilton garden inn, only steps away, but it was fully booked. There’s also a Fairfield Inn beside this property, but we realized that too late to cancel.

The staff were friendly, especially the nice front desk lady with blonde hair and glasses. The room looked clean at first, but there was old food in the fridge, paper and liquor bottles in the closet, and paper under the pullout bed. They had no extra sheets for that bed. Trash was piled in the hall on the way to my room. I had no towels or face rags when I arrived, and waited hours for towels. Those came without any face rags. I asked for them on my way to the store, and another nice staff member left some at the desk, but they were gone when I got back. I had to make do with what I had on Christmas Day. Everyone was pleasant, but the room wasn’t really clean.
