The room was clean, with lots of light, outlets, and a good workspace. The bathroom was clean too, and breakfast was a nice extra. The hotel is dated, but that doesn't matter much for a place to sleep, and the location beside the hospital is handy. The woman who checked us in was friendly and pleasant. The noise was the one real drawback, and it wasn't other guests. At 5 a.m., the man setting up breakfast played something on his phone so loudly we could hear it 15 rooms away. The lobby TV was blasting too, for no obvious reason. A quiet breakfast would be nice. I'd stay again, but I'd bring earplugs for breakfast and the early morning.
Being right beside the hospital was especially helpful since I was having a heart procedure there. Booking online was easy, and even though we arrived before regular check-in, Karen at the desk said to give her about 39 minutes. We went to get food, and when we came back she had our room ready. It was spacious and clean, and everyone working there made an effort to help. Breakfast had a decent range of choices. The beds were softer than we like, so not very comfortable, but we did sleep. We'll stay here whenever we need to spend a night in Little Rock again. A big thank you to Karen and the young woman at the desk late Wednesday afternoon and early evening, May 6th. They made things much easier for us.
The shuttle information is out of date: Arkansas Children's Hospital still lists this hotel as having one, but it stopped running a couple of years ago. There's a notice about it at the front desk. We were here during a terrifying family emergency. One of my girlfriend's 4-year-old twin daughters was flown to Arkansas Children's Hospital after the ER found she had Type 1 diabetes and diabetic ketoacidosis. Both twins are autistic and had never been away from their mom. While she stayed at the hospital, I needed a place for myself and the other twin. I worried that a meltdown might get us kicked out, but everyone we dealt with was kind and understanding. The staff treated us with real compassion through a very overwhelming time. Manager Anne went especially far to help us feel comfortable and reassured us that we were welcome. That meant a lot. The care we received was exceptional, and I'd absolutely recommend staying here if your family is at the hospital and you need support nearby.
We booked four nights around 8:30 p.m. because a relative was in the ICU and we didn't know how long we'd need somewhere to stay. We drove straight to the hospital without ever going into the room. As the night went on, our loved one was taken off medication and entered a palliative state. We were told he might have only hours, so we stayed by his bedside. The next morning he was moved to the hospice on the seventh floor, where we stayed until he passed on Saturday. My wife called the hotel several times starting at 0400 and finally reached someone around 0630 to cancel. She also asked for a refund for the first night since we hadn't used the room and the hotel had plenty of vacancies. They wouldn't give us even a partial refund.
The price and location weren't bad, so I guess you get what you get. Still, a few things were inconvenient. The third floor smelled a little odd, though it wasn't too bad, and one elevator had a lot of mold on its ceiling. My showerhead didn't work, so I was moved to another room. That room had no large towels, and reception gave me several washcloths instead. The overhead lights in both the room and bathroom were glitchy or didn't work. The place felt a bit dingy and dated.
