Murray Hotel

I travel for work often and keep coming back to this historic hotel. It's surrounded by great restaurants and bars.

We were comfortable and felt right at home. The rooms keep the original look and character, but you can tell money has gone into upgrades. The Murray is a beautiful classic hotel, with attentive service and care for the details. Everything downtown Livingston has to offer is within walking distance. We'd gladly stop here again.

It's a small, adorable place with clean rooms and a really cool atmosphere. My husband and I came for a long weekend and both fell for it. What stood out most was the staff, from the front desk to the cleaning crew. Everyone seemed happy to be there and genuinely invested in the place, which makes such a difference. So much better than a chain hotel. I'd absolutely recommend it to anyone passing through.

One thing to plan for: there's no hotel parking, so you'll need a spot on the street, or the bank lot next door on the weekend. There's only coffee in the morning, no breakfast, though a breakfast restaurant and coffee shop are an easy walk away. We enjoyed the roof access for smoking, and it could also make a nice picnic spot. Our room and beds were clean, and the bed was cozy enough for a good night's sleep. The Murray has a real antique elevator that's still working, and the room doors use actual keys. Chris checked us in and rode up with us the old-fashioned way. Staying here was a real treat. The place is truly historic, with a museum inside, and it would be a lovely choice for a romantic night.
