The room was clean and the place was quiet, and the morning front desk person was happy to bring me extra towels when I asked. There weren’t as many towels as sleeping spots, and the room was smaller than the other one we’d stayed in. Breakfast was simple compared with the Quality Inn three hours north where we’d stayed the night before, but it had a quaint feel. Good value for the money, and I’d recommend it.
The room itself was fine for a basic overnight stop, and the breakfast was pretty bare bones. Just a waffle machine, no bacon or eggs, and I found a fruit fly in my orange juice. The price also came out higher than Google Maps showed, so check the taxes and fees in the fine print. The part that really put me off was a sales pitch for Quality lnn's parent organization when I made the reservation. I was told to hang on, then got a hard sell for discounts at lousy tourist traps. The guy kept going, and I finally had to be rude and hang up. I don’t want telemarketing just because I’m booking a room for the night. Budget should rethink its customer relations. Saying “how are you doing sir” or asking whether I liked my stay doesn’t make up for someone droning on about an alleged refund deal that probably means more credits for places I don’t want to visit. I’m not putting $249 of my own money down on what seems like a scam, and I’ll think twice before returning to Quality lnn.
The Choice hotels app booked me at the wrong location, and I only noticed when I reached the correct one. I spoke to the owner, who refused to refund me and marked it as a “no show,” even though I had never meant to book there. I have documentation that I stayed in the correct town that same night. He still thinks it’s fine to take money for doing nothing.
The rugs and pretty much everything else felt moist, and the amenities were much more limited than at the other Quality Inns we’d stayed in. We got fewer towels and pillows, and breakfast ended at 9 AM instead of 10. At check in, the front desk clerk wasn’t helpful. He also made us uneasy about staying by implying that our car might get broken into.
We left early because the mildew smell was unbearable. The couch had sunk in so badly it couldn’t be used, and there was hair and urine all over the bathroom. We tried to cover the couch with the spare blanket from the closet, but it was yellow stained and smelled like urine too. The gentleman at the front desk understood, and we were allowed to cancel the second night, so we only paid for one.
