1890 Karcher Haus

We had a lovely time at this cute, cozy B&B, and the host even made us breakfast early one morning when we needed it. She was very kind and showed us around all the rooms. One thing to know is that our bathroom was across the dining room and down the hall. We knew it wasn't attached to our room when we booked, but hadn't realized it was that far away; the other rooms had private bathrooms. We hope to stay again.

Those real quilts in the bedroom and the homey hospitality were just what I liked. It felt like being looked after by a nice aunt at grandma's house, and you can ask for laundry or an earlier breakfast if needed. The Texas food gets an A+, and I couldn't have asked for a better stay. The grounds are kept up well, too, even though some construction is going on. The landscaping elsewhere is the best in the neighborhood. I also liked that it sits back in the neighborhood, away from a main road. Looking forward to coming back.

The house is pretty and quaint, with old artifacts throughout, and it's within walking distance of some nice restaurants in Llano. Georgina was so sweet and made sure we had a good stay. Her Texas-style Eggs Benedict for breakfast was excellent. I'd definitely recommend it.

The room had a strong, unmistakable cat urine smell, and there was cat hair on the linens and furniture. It seemed worst in our room, so maybe the others are better. It didn't bother us, but guests with allergies wouldn't be happy. Cleanliness was another issue: dead bugs or moths on the bathroom counter and dust bunnies by the baseboards. The place could use a deep clean, and even a basic surface clean after what seemed like a few weeks with no guests. We were excited for a cute B&B stay after booking by phone for Sunday night. Check-in was easy, and the owner let us in early, but then told us breakfast wouldn't be served the next morning because they only do breakfast on weekends. There was no price reduction. If we'd been told on the phone, we wouldn't have booked.
