I actually got a good night's sleep because the bed was really comfortable. It was one of the nicer rooms, with a king bed and a huge jetted tub. I was grateful to have the room for a night away from my husband, who's angry that I'm divorcing him. I’d heard the comment about the dead tree and found it funny. After a few drinks, I might have slept in the tub if I’d spotted the headboard earlier. In the morning, I saw what looked like 27 forceful spit marks of what I can only call “man batter” on it, plus a couple of spots on the bottom of the TV dresser. I don’t blame people for having a lot of fun, even if it gets gross. Housekeeping still needs to clean it. I’m a cleaner myself, though more privately than in a hotel, so I know toilets are gross to deal with. It’s part of the job, and I don’t get tips either.

The worst part was the mix-up on our second night. We’d come to help family with a wedding and had booked three nights, but after going to bed early, a different clerk banged on our door at 11:30 p.m. to say we needed to register again because of an error on their end. He was in street clothes with headphones, no uniform. The next day, while I was loading the car, someone yelled to ask if I was checking out. We left and spent the rest of our stay at another hotel. The place was already dark and a bit creepy when we arrived, with the front clerk asleep at the desk. Furniture was scuffed, the decor looked like an '80s Salvation Army, our bed squeaked loudly, and the walls were thin enough for us to hear kids screaming. The lobby had dead trees, and there were stains on carpets and in bathrooms. If you need a cheap place, this one is cheap, but with the grime and general shabbiness, I wouldn't choose it if you have another option. I'm surprised it's still in business.

The bathroom was filthy when I checked in. The toilet had a brown ring, the shower curtain had turned brown with dirt, and the refrigerator looked like it hadn't been cleaned since it was put in the room. The bed linens were soiled too. There’s no elevator, so you have to carry all your luggage up the stairs, which was a problem with my small kids. When I asked about it, the front desk worker said he wasn't the owner and couldn't help carry the bags or offer a solution. He wasn't friendly, and when I asked to switch to a ground-floor room, he said there weren't any available. The room was like a furnace because the AC was off. Its main light switch didn't work, leaving just the two bedside lamps. The thin window curtain was ripped in several places, so there was no privacy. The bathroom fan came on with the light and was extremely loud. The fire sensor was falling down, the phone was dirty, and everything else looked bad too. This hotel is horrible. Don't waste your money, even if you're getting it for free.

My first stay here went really well. The room was comfortable, and the front desk guy was so kind and patient with me through the whole check-in process. Great experience!

The rooms and hallways could use a thorough clean and some repairs. My room, 266, had a light socket completely detached from the wall, so we unplugged what was connected to it. The sheer curtain was stained, and with white fabric you can see everything. There were bugs above the stair light and by the door to the parking lot. The place smelled like a closet, and the air freshener holder in the lobby was empty. The bathroom vent sounded horrible, as loud as a car. Check the room carefully before you get comfortable.
