The pool and hot tub were clean and well kept, and there are plenty of restaurants nearby. The suites were spacious, recently renovated, and comfortable, with beds that gave us some of the best sleep we’ve had, even compared with higher-end resorts. The management team was friendly and attentive, and seemed committed to a good guest experience. We found the stay a better value than many places right in the Dells, while still getting a premium feel. Comfort Suites Wisconsin Dells Area is a hidden gem near the Dells. I’d happily stay here again.

The front desk agent has been consistently helpful and professional, and the rooms are clean, comfortable for sleeping, and generally well maintained. But across several stays, the TV has repeatedly failed to get a signal, which is frustrating. Storage is sparse too, just wall hooks instead of closets or hangers. Renovations are plainly underway, and they bring some disruption to the atmosphere, though they may mean improvements ahead. Breakfast is passable, with eggs, sausage, muffins, and danishes. As a frequent traveler, I’d like more hot choices such as biscuits and gravy or potatoes, like I’ve seen at other Choice hotels. Complimentary water bottles would also be a practical addition.

At check-in, we found the room we’d booked, with two queen beds and a hot tub, dark and cold, and we weren’t comfortable staying there in winter. The only staff representative in the lobby told us to seek a refund through Booking. Booking told us to deal with the property instead, so we got nowhere. We found another hotel with a better location and atmosphere for nearly the same price. This cost us time and money for nothing.

I rarely write reviews or complain because mistakes happen, but after booking three rooms and bringing plenty of business, I expected better care. The AC units weren’t working well, there were far too many bugs, and we found stains on the bedding and sheets. The towels had red stains, which I hoped weren’t blood. The shower pressure was almost nonexistent, and the tub felt slimy and was rusted. We were glad we’d brought our own pillows, since the ones provided had hair and what looked like sweat or slobber on them. There was also an unpleasant, grassy sort of smell in the rooms. The food was mediocre and could use more care. For what we paid, the stay wasn’t satisfactory and didn’t feel worth the cost. I wish it had been cheaper.
