We stayed in unit 203 at sand cay beach resort from 7/19 to 7/26. We’d stayed in this unit before and liked it, so we chose it again based on the online photos of the interior. This time it was a total disappointment for the whole week. The view and the beach tent were the only good parts. The floor was visibly dirty and sandy, with what looked like black dirt on it. The blinds had been removed, and black shower curtains hung over the front patio door and windows. The outdoor plastic wicker-looking furniture was extremely uncomfortable, the cushions slid off when you moved, and the square plastic coffee table leaned to one side. The couch in the den/TV area was sandy and didn’t match the pictures. There were cobwebs on the spare bedroom ceiling, and the popcorn ceiling visibly needed cleaning or paint. The master bedroom had an assortment of furniture that looked like a lounge. The owner hadn’t updated the interior photos online. If we’d seen the actual furnishings, we never would’ve rented it. The staff were friendly and courteous, and always willing to help with problems. I’ve attached photos of the furniture and my daughter’s sock after she walked on the floor for a few hours. Disgusting unit.

The condo was very clean, and we loved sitting on the patio in the morning and evening. The staff were so friendly, and it was great having beach chairs available for us at the beach all the time. We plan to come back. It was great!

For years, this has felt like a home away from home for our family. Each condo is different, and after trying a few, you start to find the ones you like. We’re partial to 106 and 119, both with great views and easy beach access.

Sand Cay used to be a reasonably priced alternative to the other places that were gouging people, but now it feels like they’re doing the same. We started staying there a few years ago at around $250 a night. The price went up by at least 50% each year, and now it’s $650 a night after fees. That’s what some of the finest hotels in the world cost, and these units aren’t worth it. There’s also a 6% processing fee, even though they’re charging over $4,000 a week. What’s the fee for? It feels like another cash grab. Shame on Sand Cay.

We come back year after year because we love it. The community is clean and quiet, the beach is nice, and it’s close to great restaurants and activities. Highly recommend!
